2. Can you give us a little background on your upcoming/existing/recently release book/series?
Amok is the first book in the Absolution duology. I’d summarise the series as being about magic and faith. Amok is more friendship focused, whilst there mayyyy be some romance in Absolution (book 2 – coming in 2022!)
3. Can you give us any insight into your planning and writing process?
My planning and writing process consists of many, many rewrites. I think through the process of writing (or what people call a pants-ing) , so I usually need to write out a first draft before I can figure out if anything in the story makes sense!
That’s when I figure out what the story really IS about, then go about creating a proper outline for it… then rewrite it until it works.
4. Silence or music or other when writing/editing?
Silence or instrumental. I tend to start singing along if there are words and then I get distracted and look up song lyrics instead.
5. Based on your experience, can you offer a piece of advice to budding authors?
Keep writing until you find your voice (or really, what works for you).
6. You can erase one book or series from your mind entirely so that you can read it again for the first time, which do you erase?
Uh. I have problems remembering things anyway, I don’t need to erase them!!!!

Amok is written in quite a historical Nusantara-type setting, which is something I’ve been exploring recently. But a lot of my inspiration is also very much from delving into my Malaysian heritage and working out the confluences & influences of various cultures that shapes who we are today.
