2. Can you give us a little background on your upcoming/existing/recently release book/series?
The Rockstar Ending series is based on the short story, ‘One Last Gift’ which received a dystopian fiction award from The Orwell Society. When Lexi finds out that older people are being coerced into genocide by stealth, she vows to take on the sinister corporation behind the utlimate Rockstar Ending. She may just be an ordinary woman, but Lexi soon discovers that she is capable of extraordinary things.
3. Can you give us any insight into your planning and writing process?
I write in bursts – up to 2,000 words per day – until I have a first draft. Then I work with a professional editor to refine the manuscript until I’m happy. I use an excel spreadsheet to keep track of progress and manage the structure.
4. Silence or music or other when writing/editing?
Silence with musical interludes as the books all come with a playlist.
5. Based on your experience, can you offer a piece of advice to budding authors?
Meet other writers who are interested in supporting and encouraging you, and giving you honest feedback.
6. You can erase one book or series from your mind entirely so that you can read it again for the first time, which do you erase?
The William Gibson sprawl trilogy
7. Who are some of your favourite authors/books?
Mary Shelley – Frankenstein, Margarat Atwood -The Handmaid’s Tale, Cathi Unsworth – Bad Penny Blues also Willam Gibson, Thomas Pynchon, George Orwell, Christopher Fowler, Janet Evanovich, Ursula Le Guin.
8. Who are your favourite book characters?
Frankenstein’s monster, Molly Millions in Neuromancer, Stephanie Plum in Janet Evanovich’s One for the Money series.
9. Do you have any favourite magic systems?
No
10. You can bring one world from a book or series to life and live there, which world do you choose?
Earthsea
11. What book or series would you love to see on the big screen?
A really good adaptation of the Earthsea books
12. You can collaborate with one other author, who do you choose?
Mary Shelley if it has to be ‘only’ a writer author. David Bowie if allowed.
